Diagnocat’s core product analyzes dental imaging across both 2D and 3D modalities: panoramic radiographs, intraoral x-rays, and CBCT volumes. Where most dental AI tools on the market focus exclusively on 2D radiograph analysis (caries detection, bone level measurement on bitewings and periapicals), Diagnocat’s differentiator is its CBCT capabilities: automated segmentation, 3D model generation, and specialized reports for implant planning and orthodontics.
The FDA cleared Diagnocat’s Segmentron Viewer (K251072, September 2025) as a semi-automated software medical device for analysis of maxillofacial CBCT images. The clearance covers AI-generated segmentation reports for healthcare providers. This makes Diagnocat one of the few dental AI platforms with specific FDA clearance for 3D imaging analysis, filling a gap in a market dominated by 2D radiograph tools.
What we haven’t tested: Diagnocat launched in the US in late 2025, and we have not done a hands-on evaluation of the platform in a live clinical environment. The company has been active internationally since 2017 across 50+ countries and has Health Canada clearance, but the US track record is short. We also could not independently confirm specific PMS integration details beyond the CBCT scanner manufacturers (Dentsply Sirona, Vatech, Planmeca, Carestream) listed on their site. Diagnocat fills a gap that Overjet, Pearl, and VideaHealth do not: automated CBCT analysis and 3D segmentation. If your practice relies on CBCT for implant planning or oral surgery, Diagnocat is the only FDA-cleared AI option with dedicated 3D capabilities. For practices primarily using 2D radiographs, the established competitors have longer US track records. Diagnocat is most compelling for practices that want one AI platform covering both 2D and 3D imaging.
